Learning Log – Due 6th February


Your task is to create a poster to advertise Chester Zoo. Be prepared to show yours to the class.

Chester Zoo

To link with our science topic, we took a trip to Chester Zoo. We had lots of fun exploring all the animals and even took part in an excellent workshop on classification. We learnt lots on how we can classify animals and the characteristics of different types of animals.


Tsunami Art

In topic this term, we have been looking at Extreme Earth and in particular tsunamis. In topic, we read a super story called ‘Tsunami’ which is about a Japenese myth. Then we looked at artwork of a tsunami wave by Katsushika Hokusai called ‘The Great Wave’. It was created in Japan in approximately 1831. We used collage materials to create our own interpretation of a tsunami wave, based on ideas from the fabulous illustrations in the story and the painting too. Take a look at our work:



Year 5/6 took a trip to Saltaire today as part of their Victorian topic/ Local history.


They learnt lots about the work of Sir Titus Salt and did some excellent sketching of Victorian buildings.


Learning Log – Due 14th November


We have started looking at the Victorians. Your task is to research Queen Victoria and create a fact file.

Literacy – Street Child

This term, we are looking at the Victorians. Linked to our topic, in literacy, we have started looking at Street Child. So far this week we have explored the characters in the text through drama activities.

We have looked freeze framing scenes aswell as hot seating characters.


Learning Log – Due 25th October 2017

Next week, you will be writing your own evacuee story. Your task to create a front cover for your story.


Bradford Class did an excellent performance in Harvest Assembly this week. The class performed an alterative version of Let it Go, to Let it Grow.
